For 7 years my mother battled FTD/PPA, misunderstood sub-types of dementia. The fight was harrowing and she was unrecognizable at the end, 100% paralyzed, incontinent, and aphasic. Faced with losing her dignity, she fought until her last breath. I'm so, so proud of you, Mum. ❤️

My mother was everything to me and I have no regrets whatsoever about dropping everything, career and all, five years ago to focus on her care & cognitive stimulation therapy.

In her memory, I am starting an organization, “Memory Moves” to:

• Raise awareness in a novel way, to bridge the gap between Dementia Representation in the media and the actual reality of Dementia.

• Create a Podcast, “The Dementia Podcast” covering the latest research, news, providing advice and inviting experts to talk on the topic of Dementia.

• Bridge the gap between the research and potential treatments that could alleviate the patients’ suffering and anxiety and, in turn, develop practical applications with real-world results.

• Shatter the stigma around this illness which prevents so many from getting the care they need.

• Use my technical background to support care homes in employing transformative support technologies that is also respectful of patient privacy and dignity.

This will be a very long journey, but I cannot think of a more rewarding one. If you would like to participate in the Podcast or just share your opinion, please do not hesitate to reach out.
