Coming soon: Memory Moves
For 7 years my mother battled FTD/PPA, misunderstood sub-types of dementia. The fight was harrowing and she was unrecognizable at the end, 100% paralyzed, incontinent, and aphasic. Faced with losing her dignity, she fought until her last breath. I'm so, so proud of you, Mum. ❤️
My mother was everything to me and I have no regrets whatsoever about dropping everything, career and all, five years ago to focus on her care & cognitive stimulation therapy.
In her memory, I am starting an organization, “Memory Moves” to:
Raise awareness in a novel way, to bridge the gap between Dementia Representation in the media and the actual reality of Dementia.
Create a Podcast, “The Dementia Podcast” covering the latest research, news, providing advice and inviting experts to talk on the topic of Dementia.
Bridge the gap between the research and potential treatments that could alleviate the patients’ suffering and anxiety and, in turn, develop practical applications with real-world results.
Shatter the stigma around this illness which prevents so many from getting the care they need.
Use my technical background to support care homes in employing transformative support technologies that is also respectful of patient privacy and dignity.
This will be a very long journey, but I cannot think of a more rewarding one. If you would like to participate in the Podcast or just share your opinion, please do not hesitate to reach out.
